Friday Update

So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.

Hello Everyone- Friday night we had sloppy joes, watermelon, corn, cookies, and water for dinner.... which was made and brought by Granite Ridge Builders, Teresa Nuckols Hueber, Tony, and the other team members. Thank you for making such a great meal and for making and bringing the food after a long workday. The teams that come and serve don't just bring food but they bring their whole heart and a servant attitude. Teresa and I were able to pray with a friend of ours who is struggling because of his uncle passing away and everything that comes with that. We also noticed he was wearing shoes with a hole in them and Teresa Nuckols Hueber volunteered to bring him a new pair just in time for him to attend the funeral. That's what I'm talking about....they are just willing to serve in any way possible! We were able to see sweet Eliza and James. James is due for more surgery and Eliza just likes going around seeing everyone!! It was definitely hot out and so we tried to end a little early. We did though talk about Luke 5: 1-11. There are many lessons to learn from this passage a couple we thought were good was that when Jesus comes on the "scene" things turn for good! Also, that when Jesus asks us to do something we have the free will to say no which Peter did at first. He was tired from working all night and not catching anything and Jesus asked him to go back out again...he didn't want to but decided to obey and that's when he saw the miracle happen. For Peter, he cried and we talked about why? Did he cry because he was so happy about all the fish? For me, I think he cried because he was resistant at first and doubted and Jesus showed him what can happen when we do what He says to do. Peter may have thought "Wow, I should have just listened to what He said instead of being resistant and full of doubt" We shared how that we are all facing the same scenario in one way or another. Jesus asking us to do something that we feel we are not good at, not willing to let our schedules be at the timing of God, and yet if we just would obey we would see ourselves being humbled and in awe just like they were. We had a conversation with a friend who was clearly agitated at a current situation in his life and he felt that God has never done anything good for him. When he was able to calm down a bit he revealed how when he was younger he was not welcomed into a church....and it has stuck with him. He was willing to talk about what was bothering him and he has good reasons to be upset, and yet we hope that he will be willing to see doing things the right way will cause him to come out ahead. Thank you also for the many donations that come in each week. We were able to get a friend a new pair of boots for his job and he was pretty happy!! We currently need tennis shoes, blankets, men's boxers and underwear, small flashlights, men's jeans.. Thank you everyone and have a good week!
