Friday Night Update For 2-12-21
Tonight was super special but not surprising as we have so many good people who come to serve with us. The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church made their famous chicken and rice meal, had breadsticks, salad, cookies, and Rochelle brought hot chocolate so we had plenty. We had the exact amount we needed...had two meals left and right as we were leaving two men came up needing food and it was and always is amazing to say "Sure, we have some for you." There were several people out who we haven't seen in a while so it was nice to catch up with them again and hear what's happening in their world. Was able to see our friend Daryl who is back from working out of state and has been gone a few months. Thankfully Todd Plimpton was able to get him some new jeans because he was in need!! Was also able to give out several coats, gloves, hats, and socks, and Kathy Coughlin Hartman was giving out much-needed Taco Bell cards.....we have a great team that is for sure. Then our sweet friend Soultana took off the super cute and warm jacket she was wearing and asked me if the woman she wanted to give it to would be offended. I said, "Well let's go find out." That coat was the perfect size for our friend who only had on a hoodie, and it was the right length for her (Coat is meant to be longer to keep legs warm) Our friend was thankful for the new coat that fit so perfectly. I often see people do these things, but knowing it was 21 degrees and she was then without a coat was extra special to me. I love that in an instant someone can have a need met just like that!!!! Our friend didn't hesitate to give her coat away and let me add the woman who received the coat didn't say she needed or wanted a coat. Soultana just saw our friend shivering and offered it up! I love seeing those things happen like that!!
Also had a friend who was beyond worried about a family member because he couldn't get a hold of him. It was extremely hard and the old him would have drunk his way through it---but he didn't. He called one day and said he wanted to drink and yet didn't give in. Thankfully he was able to find out how the family member was doing and he credits God in helping him. He's come along way over the last couple of years and it's amazing to see what God does in a person's life.
So tonight was good, very good. We had the exact amount of food, the exact amount of items to give away and as always we have the exact amount of God we all needed. Thank you for helping us serve those we care about and thank you for praying for them and us.
