Blessed Portion Update 9-22-17
Hello Everyone--
WOW it was hot tonight!!! While the temps were high and muggy we still had many come out and join us and for that we are blessed. At our first stop we were able to meet a new couple to the streets. Our friends Saints on The Streets let them know last night where to meet us at and that we would be able to get them hooked up and sure enough we did! Thanks to Rochelle Bloomfield-Wilson she was gracious enough to go and get them a tent along with many other items because apparently the heat caused my brain to forget to bring tents!! Thanks Rochelle!! So in the end they had some new clothes, hygiene, blankets, tents, snack bags, ice cold water and a few other things!! Also ended up talking with our new friend who was baptized last week!! She just found out she has to have brain surgery and even though she is still suffering her answer to everything is "Its ok because I have Jesus." That is how she is handling many issues she is up against right and again we learn from her. Many times its easy to talk about our problems and go on and on and we leave Jesus out of the equation. We heap more trouble on us because we act as if we do not have a helper and that is so opposite of the truth. Our friend will be keeping us in the loop as far as her surgery and we plan to be there for her and thankful for how she is teaching us.

Also talked with a man who has been sober for over 13 months now. His answer when asked how he did it was..... " I made a decision to just do it and I did." Talked with another man who had the exact answer as to how he got clean and sober....his advice to others was "Just do it." Then one friend said how that each person needs to make the choice to want to be sober more than they want to be high and do it. Now while addressing an addiction is hard, the hardest thing would be the decision to just do it and stick with it. Many are seeing the effects of drug use and how it is killing so many...and some are finally opening their eyes to the severity of it. Some still are fighting the addiction. Saw a couple friends at one spot who while they so badly want to be clean, the desire to drink is stronger....and so we gave them a blanket as they slept outside--very hard to understand.
Some good news though we went to Catalpa Street and saw our friends. Our one friend who we brought there right off the streets is still there and is doing some amazing work building a handicap ramp for a woman!! He is clean and sober and is sticking with it and what a changed man he is!! We also took time to play uno, chess, checkers, and Yahtzee . It was nice to sit and talk and laugh and just play some games. Learned more about the men who stay there and the places they have been in their lives and where they want to go in the future. They need prayer though. They are men who have addictions and hurts and are struggling to make it as well so please pray for them.
We did alot of praying with people tonight for various things and we heard some good stories--some praise reports. Heard some frustrations, some fears and had lots of laughs and love!! Seemed like over and over we heard "Just do it" . To do whatever it is that God is asking you to do...to do it now and no excuses. To trust that if He is asking you to do it He will provide all you need to make it happen... So from us to you..........Just Do It!!!
Thanks everyone for your donations--we have been out of bigger sizes and could use them along with socks!! Please continue to clean out your closets and think of us if possible! Thanks to Pathway Community Church, Grace Summit Church, Mark and Jennifer Lynne Stebing, Mjs Apparel, Sarah Bigelow Lapadot, Auburn Massage and Wellness, Rochelle Bloomfield-Wilson, Amber Gaskill, Jacquie Aldrich, Riley, Lacey, Kim Ted Shook, Nina and Stacy Hagerty, David and Veronique Poudrier, and everyone else who gives THANKYOU
