Blessed Portion Update for 8-4-17

Deuteronomy 16:17 " Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God which He has given you."

Hello Everyone,

Tonight was a busy but great night!! Saw lots of new faces at our first stop and some friends from a couple years back that we haven't seen. Good to see those that we care about and yet hard to hear what they have been through as well. We got to see our cute as ever baby Landon tonight and he is growing fast!! Tommy was enjoying having a little one to hold for a bit :)Talked with several who had a rough week--life on the streets is not a easy or peaceful thing. Its also hard when your wanting to work, but have no way to get to a job, have no id and no legal documentation to get an id. Talked with 2 friends tonight who starting next week are going to be taking steps to get their identification cards as well as some other legal documents that are vital for them moving forward. Hoping for these friends this will be the beginning of a new cycle in their life. Talked with one friend who shared how that she had been pronounced dead last week, and yet was revived.... she shared how thankful she is to be alive ...and sadly we talked about those who have passed away recently. Seems more and more people are dying and our city surely needs prayers.

Had some exciting news tonight though....God has been gracious to allow us to partner with Catalpa House in Fort Wayne. They are a non for profit facility in town which helps those in need. Last night was our first night there as we re- arranged our schedule some to accommodate being able to spend time with the men there. Just as God would have it we met an old friend at our first stop who was in need of a place to stay as he was outside and trying to stay clean and sober. Took a quick phone call and we were able to get our friend and his items and took him to Catalpa. We went in and actually saw a few old friends and there was lots of smiles and hugs!! We got got caught up and enjoyed being there and said we would see them next week. One friend asked if we had a Monopoly game we could bring... so that is on the needs list--along with the games sorry, checkers and a pumpkin pie!!!! SO HAPPY that God has opened another door for us to minister to those who need it!!!

We ended the night as most families do and that was by celebrating Bicycle Dave's birthday at Ihop!!! God has blessed us by having him in our lives. He comes every Friday to help out, comes to church with us, celebrates holidays and our birthdays so being with him on his day was perfect!!! He always gives all he has for us and we are better people for knowing him.

Lastly, the reason for the picture posted is we were again overwhelmed. One of our volunteers came up and handed me 2 quarters and said that one of our friends wanted to make a donation for the food that we provided. The first thought was to right away give it back....then I realized that actually might offend them...so I accepted it. As I looked around tonight at all those who came out for some food, friendship and MUCH needed supplies, some prayer, listening ears... I saw again that God is good. Our friends our good. Our volunteers are good. The people who have allowed us to use their parking lot in spite of many saying they shouldn't are good and above all we are blessed. Each week Tommy and I come home and talk about the evening and how we thought it went, about the stories we heard, ways we can help certain ones...God moments that happened in the evening and we always agree God is on the move and were blessed to see it unfold!!
