Friday Update 10-4-19

Blessed Portion Friday Update 10-4-19

Hello Everyone,

Tonight St. Joe Church provided bread-sticks, spaghetti, salad, and TONS of homemade cookies and cupcakes.....love hearing people say its so good and want seconds. Jennifer Laux and Vicki Holman whatever you guys put in that spaghetti is perfect.......THANK YOU for all you and your church did to provide the nice hot meal tonight.

Thankfully we didn't have rain which is nice because we do not have any shelter to keep food warm unless we bring our tents...so no rain is one less thing to have to worry about. Tonight a couple men who had that day walked out of jail only had what they were wearing...which was not enough. So for one man who only asked for a hoodie, we were able to give him a book bag, couple pairs of socks, flashlight, trash bags, hand warmers, gloves, hat and a jacket....he was SO thankful. At that moment as were digging through our bins were reminded of how thankful we are to each person who drops off items each week.

Saw Cierra Braden Schroeder and the baby is about here....cant wait to meet the new little peanut. Cierra has worked hard to have a better life and she is going to be a great mom !! Also saw our other mom to be and she needs prayers as she has so many difficult things going on in her life.

The needs at the first stop were socks, blankets, hoodies and men's jackets and again we had enough!! We are in serious need though of men's gloves so please if you have any that you would consider please consider us.

Couple cool stories we heard: One man who is recently out of prison is doing the hard work of staying away from the things that keep him going backwards. He is frustrated how he hasn't been there for his son - which is how he grew up. He is trying to break the cycle and its pretty amazing to hear where he was to where he is now. It's also inspiring and challenges us.

Second cool story is a man who struggles ALOT with anxiety, loud noise and trusting people. When I saw him tonight I said the normal "Hello, how are you? He shared how upset he was to hear people talk so rough in his mind about heaven and hell. He said to me "That is not the gospel." He shared how he does believe in heaven, hell and in Jesus, but when people forget to say things in love and kindness- for him that is not the gospel (as far as their approach.) As I thought about what he said it made sense to me, in that we have to say all things in love and yet truthfully. Jesus Christ spoke boldly for sure and yet people knew He was love even if they didn't want to admit it. So for our friend I take into account his nervousness, anxiety and yet learned from him as well.

Tonight we had plenty of food, plenty of good stories, many prayer requests and some praises. God has been faithful to us in giving us a place to serve and the help we need to carry it out each week. Our friends from Charis house continue to bless us as they come down each week and on Sundays. Love that we are making more friends and they are giving Jesus opportunity in their life.
